Combined geographic health boundaries

Sub-national geographic health boundaries and metadata for all countries that generate subnational HIV estimates using the Naomi tool.

This data was prepared by the National HIV estimates team and agreed for use in generating their country HIV estimates. The file’s format and structure meets the requirements set by the subnational HIV estimates tool Naomi. The data has been approved for use in the estimates by the country’s Ministry for Health.

The original GeoJSON data is hierarchical in structure, with nested boundaries for each admin level. Tabular metadata is also incorporated into the Geojson file, which can be downloaded from this site in CSV format. The data dictionary detailing each field in this tabular data is also available from the resource page.

The approved health boundaries used by country HIV estimates teams as they generated their national and subnational HIV estimates. Note: Some further work should take place to tidy up the internal boundary lines within countries. UNAIDS are aware of some small discrepancies in national and subnational boundary lines between datasets.
